If you know one thing about me, it’s probably ho If you know one thing about me, it’s probably how much libraries mean to me, how formative they were to my love of reading and writing, and how important I think they are to our culture and especially for children to experience. If you have read my book, The Library Book, then you also understand my specific adoration for @LAPublicLibrary, which is why I feel called to support one of their upcoming exhibits, one that brings together many things that I hold dear to my heart…the library, historical books, and my culture.

@AnneFrankLA is a non-profit that creates innovative educational and cultural programs and community events that further the legacy of Anne Frank. Their programs enable learners of all ages to better understand the dangers of prejudice and discrimination, the importance of democracy, and how to become upstanders rather than bystanders.

Because of their efforts, along with the idea of a little girl named Olivia Prince and the help of Councilmember @PaulKoretz (CD5), in April 2022, The Los Angeles City Council adopted a resolution declaring May 12th (Anne’s father, Otto Frank’s birthday) to officially be #AnneFrankDay in the City of Los Angeles. This day will honor Anne’s story, her bravery, and the nearly 1.5 million children who perished during the Holocaust.

In honor of Anne Frank Day, the Los Angeles Public Library, Central (Lower Level 1 Atrium) will be featuring the Anne Frank - A History of Today exhibit on view from May 1 - 31st.

I highly recommend you head over to @AnneFrankLA to learn more about how this organization is spreading awareness about inclusion and diversity and that you also take the time this month to visit the Anne Frank - A History of Today exhibit at my favorite library.
